Inside a Jose Mourinho dressing room

Manchester United players will be getting the full package with Jose Mourinho , insists former Real Madrid and Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek.

United are set to appoint the Portuguese boss as Louis can Gaal’s replacement – and he has been hailed a great strategist, master tactician, disciplinarian and a great leader.

Dudek spent three of his four years at Real Madrid playing deputy to Iker Casillas under Mourinho’s management, report the Manchester Evening News.

Transfer plans: 5 ins and 5 outs at Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho is on his way back to the Premier League.

Louis van Gaal appeared to confirm his time was up at Manchester United telling reporters on Sunday “it’s over” as talk about his impending exit from Old Trafford intensifies.

Mourinho is the next ‘Chosen One’ and will follow the Dutchman with the Portuguese’s superagent Jorge Mendes said to be jetting in this week.

So as the Mourinho era edges ever closer it’s time to look at just what his Manchester United team will look like.

As ever when a new manager comes in there’s likely to be plenty of movement, both in and out.

Here’s what the Special One could be looking to do in this summer’s transfer market.

World fears for Juan Mata

If you were to win your club’s Player of the Year award two years running, you’d like to think your status there is pretty secure.

We would, certainly. Juan Mata probably did. But it wasn’t at all: despite his Stamford Bridge heroics, Mata was shipped off to Manchester United in January 2014 by a certain Jose Mourinho – the same man who is now taking over at Old Trafford .

Subsequently, the world is now fearing for the future of the loveliest man in the league.

Here’s what could be running through his head as Jose prepares to axe him again… #Pray4Juan.

A messy week

I mean, as far as questions go, it’s a pretty good one.

The Van Gaal dismissal dragged on in pretty dismal fashion.

And now this is going the same way.

Deal Agreed – but not officially signed!

Jose Mourinho has agreed a deal to become Manchester United’s new boss.
Mourinho concluded his negotiations with United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward at a secret location in central London this afternoon.
Although United sources stress he has not officially signed to succeed the sacked Louis van Gaal, Mourinho will definitely be their next manager.
United are expected to officially announce Mourinho’s arrival tomorrow and when he will be unveiled at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese is understood to have agreed terms on a three-year deal with United worth a staggering £15million-a-year.

Mourinho, dressed smartly in a black suit and tie, was collected by a chauffeur this afternoon and driven to his final meeting with Woodward.
Their handshake ends United’s months of courting the former Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid boss since their first misgivings over van Gaal arose at the start of the year.
An outline deal was agreed for Mourinho to take over from van Gaal and United activated this agreement when the Dutchman missed out on the Champions League.
The deal was basically done then, but has dragged on for several days as Mourinho tried to resolve various image rights issues with Chelsea, who sacked him just before Christmas.

Hodgson’s take

Hodgson on Mourinho

England boss Roy Hodgson has been asked about Mourinho to United.

He’s not particularly interested.

“Club business is club business.

“I’d prefer to keep to England, not be drawn to adding my voice to the discussion”

Jumping the gun

United insist deal NOT done – yet!

Manchester United insist that Jose Mourinho is NOT the new manager yet.

However, it is expected that Mourinho WILL be announced as manager tomorrow.

Mirror Football understands that negotiations are completed and his package has been agreed.

But United are NOT in a position to formally announce Mourinho’s arrival and insist he will put pen-to-paper tomorrow.

More to follow…

Mourinho and United a good fit says Bayern boss

Carlo Ancelotti has told talkSPORT that Jose Mourinho is a good fit for Manchester United.

The Italian, who succeeded Mourinho at Real Madrid, believes the ‘wedding’ between the two will be a good fit.

“I think he is a good fit [for United]. Mourinho is a fantastic manager. He has won everything everywhere.

“Mourinho takes care of the characteristics of the player and puts on the pitch a system where the players are comfortable.

“In Inter, for example, he issued a defensive style because they had a really strong defence. But a Real Madrid they played fantastic attacking football. His team before I was there scored more than 100 goals in one season.

“This wedding will be really good for Manchester United and also for Mourinho because Manchester United is a top club.”

Mourinho’s XI

What will Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United team look like?

Manchester United are set to imminently announce Jose Mourinho as their new manager, replacing Louis van Gaal.

After months of flirting, Ed Woodward and the Glazer family have finally got into bed with the former Chelsea boss, who will manage across the city from former La Liga nemesis Pep Guardiola.

With the former Barca boss now at neighbours City, and Liverpool upwardly mobile under Jurgen Klopp, the Red Devils are under pressure to get their next appointment right.

But what would Mourinho bring to Old Trafford? How would the team be set up? And who could he bring in?

Now a second source on Mourinho.

United’s club photographer Craig Norwood has tweeted that Mourinho has indeed signed his contract with the Red Devils.

The official club announcement will be tomorrow.

The most fitting of days

It’s 107 years since Manchester United legend Sir Matt Busby was born.

Something fitting in that, if United do indeed confirm Mourinho as their new boss.

Still, nothing from the club.

Sky report deal done

According to Sky Sports, Jose Mourinho has been APPOINTED as the new Manchester United manager.

Still no confirmation from elsewhere.

It has been inching closer and closer throughout the day, with only a few standing issues regarding the contract.

Naming rights

Mourinho didn’t know Chelsea still owned the rights to his name

Jose Mourinho didn’t know Chelsea still owned the rights to his name, it has been revealed.

The Manchester Evening News report the Special One was unaware of the situation which has caused his impending announcement as Manchester United’s new manager to be delayed.

Mourinho was ‘cross’ upon finding out, but is satisfied the snag will not jeopardise his move to Old Trafford.

A source said the image rights were never an issue, citing the ‘goodwill on both sides’ and that a deal for Mourinho was always ‘going to take time’, despite expectations among United fans his arrival would be confirmed on Tuesday.

How ludicrous!

Jose Mourinho leave his house in London

Where’s Mou going in his suit?

Jose Mourinho has been snapped leaving his house in central London as he edges closer towards his move to Manchester United.

The Portuguese coach looked suave in a suit as he headed out to his car before being driven away.

The 53-year-old has already agreed terms to become Louis van Gaal’s successor, accepting a three-year deal worth £12million-a-year.

United, however, face a six-figure bill to secure the rights to Mourinho ’s autograph and even his own name, which were trademarked by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich in 2005.

The Blues’ ownership is not due to expire until the year 2025.

Gullit: Van Gaal got what he deserved

Louis van Gaal got what he deserved at Manchester United, according to compatriot Ruud Gullit.

United sacked their manager less than 48 hours after winning the FA Cup and are set to bring in Jose Mourinho as his replacement.

And an unsympathetic Gullit claimed Van Gaal was simply paying the price for failing to deliver Champions League football.

“A lot of things were his own fault,” said Gullit.

“Manchester United have a certain status… no Champions League and that’s very important for them.

Will Ibrahimovic head to Manchester United?

Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he has made his decision over where he will ply his trade next season.

The Swede has left PSG on a free transfer ahead of this summer’s Euro 2016.

The player has declared that he has offers from all across the globe – including England and Italy.

“I have concrete offers from England, Italy, from all countries” says Zlatan, speaking at a press conference today.

“The future is already written. I have made my choice.”

However, he is keeping that choice to himself.

Ibrahimovic also offered his take on Jose Mourinho’s move to Manchester United – one of the clubs heavily linked with his signature.

“It’s a great move. If you want action, you bring in Mourinho.

“I have missed working with Mourinho every day since I left Inter.”

Mourinho’s start date

So Jose Mourinho is expected to be announced if not today then tomorrow.

And in line with usual starting managers, it’s expected his official start date at Old Trafford will be July 1.

That’s in line with contracts usually expiring on June 30th and that if he were to start before July, then he may not receive full compensation from Chelsea, having been sacked mid season.

Ronaldo backs Mourinho

Cristiano Ronaldo hopes Jose Mourinho can restore Manchester United’s glory days.

Ronaldo, who played under Mourinho at Real Madrid, admits it has been difficult for him to see his former club’s decline.

However, he believes his countryman can turn things around for the Red Devils.

I think it’s good. If it’s something United wanted I think it’s good.

I hope Manchester United get back to being what they were because it’s an impressive club but in the last years they lacked an identity a bit.

And it hurts me seeing United like that because it’s a club that I carry in my heart. I wish Mourinho can carry them back to the top.

Jose eyes Niguez

Jose Mourinho could be set to call in a huge favour from super agent Jorge Mendes as he eyes Atletico Madrid ace Saul Niguez.

The exciting 21-year-old Spaniard, who is uncapped for the national side but included in their Euro 2016 squad, has been one of the standout stars this season in La Liga.

His stunning solo strike against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final helped earn Diego Simeone’s side a place in this weekend’s final against rivals Real Madrid.

And now incoming Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is keen to tempt the versatile midfielder to Old Trafford this summer as part of a £54million deal.

According to the Daily Mail , United could activate the player’s release clause and Atletico would be powerless to stop him from leaving – despite having five years left on his current £80,000-a-week deal.

Mourinho to be in United dugout on June 5

Jose Mourinho will be in the Old Trafford dugout as early as June 5.

The Portuguese boss will replace Louis van Gaal as Manchester United boss with an announcement expected in the coming days.

But United fans needn’t get too excited, Mourinho won’t be managing the Red Devils when he steps foot in the Theatre of Dreams just next weekend.

Instead, he’ll be in charge of an all-star England line-up against the Rest of the World for Soccer Aid 2016.

Football legends will join stars from the world of music of TV for the Old Trafford encounter, all in aid of UNICEF.

United vs City for Stones

Manchester United are set to do battle with rivals City for Everton defender John Stones.

The England international was a target for Jose Mourinho last summer as Chelsea had multiple bids rejected by Everton.

But the incoming United boss is ready to rival Pep Guardiola and reignite his interest in Stones this summer, reports the Manchester Evening News.

It is understood Everton privately accept he will leave – and it is now a case of selling to the highest bidder, with a fee in excess of £45m expected to be enough to prise him away.

Guardiola has identified Stones, along with Aymeric Laporte, as a player to build City’s fragile defence around.

Mourinho keen to bring Higuain to Old Trafford

Jose Mourinho has reportedly been in touch with Gonzalo Higuain’s agent in a bid to convince the Argentina striker to join Manchester United.

The Daily Star, citing reports in Italy, say Mourinho is keen to link back up with Higuain, who he managed for three years at Real Madrid.

Higuain, 28, broke the Serie A goalscoring record last season, netting 36 times – more than any other player has ever scored in a single Italian top flight season.

Napoli are understandably keen to keep hold of their star player and will offer him a new deal in a bid to stave off potential suitors.

Mourinho eyeing Willian?

Incoming Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is willing to spend £60million to take Chelsea player of the season Willian to Old Trafford.

That’s double what the Blues paid for the Brazilian, but according to the Sun, the Special One wants the ex-Shakhtar ace with him next season.

Louis van Gaal ‘gave emotional speech to staff’ after realising he’d be sacked

Louis van Gaal reportedly gave an emotional speech to Manchester United staff upon realising he would be sacked from his role as manager on Sunday.

The Dutchman was relieved of his duties at Old Trafford following the FA Cup final victory over Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Despite landing the club’s first major honour since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, Van Gaal ultimately paid the price for failing to secure Champions League football next season.

Now, the Daily Mail say the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss gave a heartfelt address to staff on Sunday morning when the writing was on the wall.

United didn’t announce his departure until the following evening, allowing him to go to his holiday home in Portugal before the news was released.

Carrick to be offered new deal – Finally

Manchester United are ready to hand Michael Carrick a new one-year deal.

United were holding off making a final decision on Carrick’s future until their managerial situation was resolved.

But with Jose Mourinho on the brink of being confirmed as their next boss United have now decided they want to retain Carrick for another 12 months.

The veteran midfielder, 34, had been left in limbo over his future with his contract up this summer.

He was resigned to moving on having received no assurances from United but attracted interest from a string of clubs at home and abroad.
